His field of experimentation : materials. Steel, aluminum, cork, wood, expanded foam or plaster become mediums for technical, singular and resolutely innovative works. Breaking with conventional design, Axel favours rarity and radical aesthetics, transforming each object into a real sculpture, with an unmistakable presence in space.

Ever passionate about art, design and architecture, Melissa, his wife, contributes her visual culture and keen sense of aesthetics to the service of the Axel Chay brand, where she has also overseen artistic direction since its beginnings.
Trained in Paris and London, and having worked at Christie's, she has refined her eye through visits to museums, libraries, design fairs and contemporary art exhibitions. She supports Axel by showcasing the pieces and developing the communication strategy. Alongside Axel, she brings her vision to life through carefully chosen artistic direction projects, both sensitive and demanding, while ensuring visual coherence and the enhancement of each piece. Her approach blends rigor with creative spontaneity, giving the brand a singular identity, enriched by artistic and architectural influences. Thanks to this shared vision, Axel Chay has established itself as a distinctive voice in contemporary design.

For his part, Aimeric Chay, his brother, has been passionate about and working with metal for years, a legacy passed down from father to son. His beginnings with metal led to the creation of contemporary works and unique pieces sold in galleries.
Today, in the family workshop, he works hand in hand with his brother to develop the prototypes that shape the Axel CHAY collections. With his rich experience with the material, of which he knows all the secrets, his expertise is a real asset for the creation, design and manufacture of parts.
